Re: Powdered Milk
I think the best is Walton's "morning moo".
I have read that milk fat is why whole powdered milk has a relatively short shelf life. Nonfat dry milk has a good shelf life, but it just doesn't taste good. Yuck! In the "morning moo" product, they remove the milk fat and replace it with vegetable fats that have a long shelf life. It will probably last for years in the sealed containers. And in my opinion, it tastes just fine. I use it all the time for my breakfast cereal. A single 4 pound can at $12 will make about five and a half gallons of milk, for a cost of $2.14 per gallon. That is about half the cost of regular milk at the market around here. If you buy the 35 pound superpail for $88, the price comes down to about $1.80 per gallon. Now this price list is a couple months old, but even if the price has risen somewhat the price is still quite reasonable. Hope this helps! |
Re: Powdered Milk
Just a tip on powdered milk if you have kids. At first they really didn't like it (though good for yogurt etc). What we did was mix 50/50 with regular milk.. they didn't know the difference. Then start decreasing the regular milk until using all powder. Worked for us.
No use storing milk if no one will drink it... personally I don't. Cheese, yogurt and coffee is all I need it for. |
Re: Powdered Milk
Go to a mexican store, the mexican whole powdered milk tastes great.
